I try making sense of it by tapping into the most secluded corners of my imagination and translating what I find into stories. I want people to see themselves reflected in places they wouldn’t ever expect; in an alien questioning their identity, a tea party host with attachment issues or a kid shocked into adulthood by the world’s horrors. Growing up in Colombia, I was influenced early on by the Magical Realism literary movement which blurs the line that separates reality from fantasy and allows us to explore our humanity through worlds rich in symbolism and wonder. My work aims to explore the darker aspects of the human experience in ways that tickle the brain.
And confusing. And fascinating. Even terrifying, at times.
being a human is weird.
